Energizer e2® rechargeable NiMH batteries are the best selling rechargeable brand. Perfect solution for high drain devices like digital cameras, binoculars, radar guns, metal detectors. Energizer Rechargeable NiMH Batteries produce less waste than regular batteries because they can be charged again and do not contain highly toxic cadium but are suitable replacements for NICd batteries.

 

Since NiMH batteries drain slightly even when not being used, they are not the best choice for low-drain items (like remote controls, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors or flashlights).

Frequently Asked Questions - Rechargeables

Do Energizer NiMH batteries have to be fully drained before recharging? No. Energizer 9V Rechargeable batteries do not have the memory problems typically associated with Nickel Cadmium rechargeable batteries. NiMH batteries can be recharged after a few hours of use or when convenient. If batteries have been stored for more than 1 month, be sure to recharge before using to maximize power.

Why do rechargeable batteries become warm while charging? It is normal for rechargeable batteries to become warm during the charge cycle. This is caused by the energy the charger is putting into the battery. Battery temperature should return to room conditions within minutes after charging.

How long can I store NiMH batteries? Typically about 2 years if stored in relatively environmentally controlled conditions. To attain full capacity after extended storage may require several charge/discharge cycles.

I have used several of these rechargeable for paintball equipment. They are “use it or lose it” batteries - they aren't designed to be used over a long time period. I have to charge them, use them, and then recharge them before the next use - they are designed to be that way. Not for a smoke detector, that is for sure. They have a higher flow rate, meaning when I put it in my paintball hopper, I know that I am good to go for the day at a high rate. When I am done for the day, I just take it out and wait till the night before its next use, then charge it back up – I don’t worry about the batteries failing on me the day of use. This Energizer 9V Rechargeable battery is great for a toy where the battery drains out fast and you cannot afford disposable ones everyday. If the device you are using them in is a direct draining one (like a motor) and not in a solid-state circuit, do not use a rechargeable battery - if they get completely drained, then they cannot be recharged. I’m a ‘tens unit’ user and use my unit around the clock to help block chronic pain from several failed back surgeries. I purchased a rechargeable 9V Energizer battery from another battery distributor. I used the rechargeable battery in my unit but found it didn't hold up. The first time I used it I got about 32 hours out of it, but from then on it went downhill. A Duracell Procell alkaline 9 volt battery, not rechargeable, lasts for 2-3 days in my tens unit!
